PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte warned the Liberal Party (LP), which he referred to as the “yellow” group, that the communist rebels will not hesitate to kill any of its members who will make a move to remove him from office.
Speaking before the Filipino community in Cambodia on Tuesday, Duterte hit anew the party of former President Benigno Aquino III for its alleged plan to impeach him because it “cannot accept defeat.”
“The Left (communist rebels) will not allow you to unseat me,” said Duterte.
“This yellow [group] wants to unseat me because they cannot accept defeat. But the Lefts will kill you if you remove me from office because I am Left,” he added.
Duterte earlier expressed confidence that no communist rebels would join any sinister plot to oust him, believing they would even die for him.
The President had said that only the LP is making a move to kick him out of office to favor its stalwart, incumbent Vice President Leni Robredo.
Amid the alleged ouster plot, Duterte reiterated that he would not abuse his power as the country's highest official. (Sunnex)
