DAVAO City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte is known for being tough against criminals, but there's one thing that makes him lose it: terrorism.
"That's one thing na medyo nagpapalamig ng kamay ko. I never talk about it. Nagpapawis ang kamay ko," Duterte told police station commanders during a command conference at Grand Men Seng Hotel on Monday.
"Hindi niyo lang alam ang sugat ko. Hindi nyo lang nakikita eh. Ang nakikita niyo patay na criminal," he added.
Duterte then told the police that during his 18 years as mayor before this, there were at least three bombings in Davao City that claimed many lives.
The first was the bombing of San Pedro Cathedral on December 26, 1993. Next was the bomb blast at the waiting shed fronting the old Davao International Airport on March 4, 2003, then the Sasa Wharf bombing on April 2, 2003.
With these terroristic acts, Duterte reminded the station commanders to be alert on the celebration of the Kadayawan Festival in the city next month.
"Ngayon ang i-prepare ninyo ang Kadayawan," the mayor said.
The thrust of Duterte's administration for the seventh term, he said, is aimed at law, peace and order. (Arianne Caryl N. Casas)
