Elections in 3 Ceneco districts set March 4

THE Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco) will hold the elections for its three districts on March 4.

Included are District IV-Bacolod East, District V-Bacolod West, and District VIII-Talisay City.

Ceneco general manager Sulpicio Lagarde said the post for District IV is vacant after Director Eduard Gasambelo was disqualified in the previous election while District V Director Vicente Tan is also disqualified for re-election due to age limit.

District VIII Director Paul Lizares is on his last term and can no longer seek reelection.

The deadline for submission of certificate of candidacy is on February 22.

Ceneco will hold its Annual General Membership Assembly (Agma) on April 30.

Lagarde said that during the Agma, a consultation or referendum maybe held if the consumers would want Ceneco to stay as a non-stock, non- profit distribution utility firm or be converted into a full cooperative under the Cooperative Development Authority.

This would depend on the directive of the National Electrification Administration, he added. (TDE)
