Energy department holds power investment conference

THE Department of Energy (DOE) will hold E-Power Mo Energy Investment Forum and Stakeholders Conference on Tuesday, October 3, at Grand Regal Hotel which will highlight information on new innovations and developments in the energy sector towards achieving the government’s energy policy agenda.

DOE Assistant Secretary Redentor Delola said during the weekly forum at SM City Annex on Monday, October 2, that the event will highlight energy programs of the government, energy opportunities, development plans and policies, financing and best practices, as well as the energy supply and demand outlook for Mindanao.

There will be six breakout sessions on Downstream Oil and Natural Gas Sector, Upstream Sector, Renewable Energy (RE) Sector, Power Sector, Alternative Fuels and Energy Efficiency Sector and Consumer Sector.

DOE Secretary Alfonso Cusi said in a statement that they have already done this event in Luzon and Visayas and they intended to hold it now in Davao for the Mindanao leg to give the Mindanaoans additional information from the energy sector to the entire energy chain, from the industry players down to the general public on the status of energy supply as well as the current energy technologies in the industry as well as the existing policies, programs and plans.

"The E-Power Mo Mindanao is paying homage to President Duterte’s home town through empowering his constituents about energy and how they can have better energy options for their daily living," said Cusi.

Last July, DOE in partnership with the Presidential Communications Operations Office, the Philippine Information Agency and the USAID B-Leaders at the Philippine International Convention Center launched the government's “E-Power Mo!” campaign designed to empower consumers by providing them adequate information, proper education and options on the intelligent utilization of energy resources towards economic growth.
