Espina, Garcia stay ahead in The View

THERE is no change at the top of the standings in The View Invitational 2013 after the second day of action Friday at Alta Vista Golf and Country Club in Pardo, this city.

As of yesterday, Edwin Espina and Tony Garcia remained on top with a total of 78 points on rounds of 42 and 36, respectively, in the Modified Stableford Scoring system.

The View Invitational runs until Sunday, but participants will only be playing two rounds of 36 holes in the four-day period.

Running second are three teams with 75 points each -- Alvin Suarez (38) and Baltaire Balangauan (37), Jun Dayot (37) and Elro de los Reyes (38), and Edwin Go Lim (39) and Peter Militante (36).

One point further back are the tandems of Toby Florendo (38) and Bayani Garcia (36), brothers Marvin (34) and Marco Mendoza (40), Henry Chu (35) and Noel Abad (39), and father and son Edwin (35) and Kenneth Robin (39).

Rounding up the top 10 are the teams of Junjun Osmeña (38) and Gerry de la Rama (35) and Ernesto Dacay Jr. (34) and Bob Hilayo (39) with 73 apiece.

One of the highlights of the second day of the club’s annual member-guest tournament was an eagle made by Sir Cross Abarintos on the par-4 hole No. 4. He holed his second shot from 125 yards to win a Skygo motorcycle.

The feat was witnessed by Alberto Solon, Bob Oliver of Timex, and Mark James Cannen.
