Eternal muse

THIS is a collection that celebrates women, their strengths, their personalities and unmitigated beauty. This is femme fatale by notable fashion designer Lord Maturan.

“It’s all about celebrating the woman’s curves while creating for her this second skin that creates an armor of a persona.”

Having started in the fashion industry with a collection of menswear, outerwear with a rock and roll theme, such influence still remains to this day when it comes to the process of making a design or coming up with a collection, even as Lord has transitioned to bridal wear.

“For a collection, I’d start with channeling a mood. I’d pick a song to gravitate to. It is not a secret in the industry that I started out with edgy rock and roll designs then transitioned to bridal,” he shared. “Once I do a collection, I get pretty much amped when I set the mood with some rock and roll and alternative music.”

Made with embossed lesage lace, rolls of jusi and chiffon, the fusion of these materials emulates the soft and fragile look of rose petals as seen in the designs. “I’m deeply inspired by how the rose is so effortless while it draws so much emotion and symbolism,” Lord said.

The process doesn’t end there. After conceptualizing a design, Lord envisions the woman who will don his designs.

“(She is) a woman who is self-assured, independent and understands how the world isn’t all sugar and spice but accepts the reality of how it is about turning lemons to lemonade,” he said.

Women have always been regarded as muses in any type of art form. After all, she is a fascinating creature.

Picture her if you will. She is fragile yet strong; she’s unapologetic and phenomenal. She is woman.
