Ex-congresswoman: 'Election is for our kids'

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- "We have elections. Not for us dahil matanda na tayo. It is for the future of our kids. I am a mom now and I am doing this because sa tingin ko po ayoko po na tanggapin lang na tama ang mali."

Thus said former Pampanga Fourth District Representative Anna York Bondoc-Sagum as she appealed to Filipinos to vote wisely for the future of children on Monday.

"People will say na, 'Maam maliit lang akong tao, naiipit ako, anong gagawin ko?' Well, May 9 is the day for all small people to act according to their conscience," Bondoc-Sagum said.

"To every single person out there, we have to work together even if you're powerless people, a jobless guy, mom, or lola. There is a day for you and that day is May 9. Let's make each and every vote count," she added.

Bondoc-Sagum recently helped his brother Congressman Juan Pablo “Rimpy” Bondoc, who is seeking re-election, in asking Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chairman Andres Bautista to address issues and alleged election related violence in the town of Apalit.

She also requested for the presence of additional police officers in the said town to Police Regional Office III Director Rudy Lacadin to endure orderly polls.

"Wala naman akong hinihingi sa army o police except to uphold people's rights," said Bondoc-Sagum.
