Farmer dies after carabao attack

A FARMER died around 6 p.m. Thursday, February 8, after he was attacked by his own carabao in Barangay Tubod, Barili town, Cebu.

Police Officer 3 John Robert Sacan, desk officer, identified the fatality as Reneboy Omalay, 47.

Investigation showed Omalay unleashed his carabao from his farm when it went wild and gored him, hitting his chest and abdomen.

"Mitaop gayud sa tiyan sa biktima," (It pierced the victim's stomach) Sacan said.

Omalay was rushed to Barili District Hospital by his cousin, but did not make it alive.

A few hours after the attack, Omalay's neighbor captured the carabao.

Sacan said the carabao was possibly hungry when it went berserk. He said the carabao was not slaughtered. (KAL/SunStar Cebu)
