Father, son emerge victorious in slalom race

FATHER and son tandem Carlos and Inigo Anton schooled their rivals anew topping their respective division in the third round of the 2016 Phoenix National Slalom Series in Cabanatuan City recently.

Backed by Castrol-Yokohama, the Antons scored the best time of the day using a Mark Young-Mohspeed prepared Honda EF.

Racing legend Carlos bagged home the front wheel drive best time of the day at 42.42 seconds while Inigo set the best time for the novice best time of the day with 43.62 along with 10 first place wins in the different divisions.

“I’m so amazed that at 12 years old, Inigo already scored his second overall novice division win and what was really impressive was he was only 1.28 seconds off the fastest time of the day set by Milo Rivera (42.34 seconds) in his rear wheel drive starlet. He also set the 4th fastest time overall in only his 3rd slalom race,” Carlos said after the race.

With the wins, father and son now lead their respective championships in the series going into the 4th round to be held at Tarlac Circuit Hill.

“I really enjoy slalom racing with my dad because he helps me a lot to get a faster time,” said Inigo Anton, the 2016 Cadet Karter of the Year.

The father and son tandem are backed by Castrol, Yokohama, Cars Unlimited, Mohspeed, Edgesport, Kilton, Kart Plaza, Special Stage, JSD Autosport, Ross Jackes, and Works Bell. (Roderick Osis)
