Felisa village chief resigns; husband takes over post

FELISA village chief Mona Dia Jardin of Bacolod City has resigned from her post effective on Thursday for personal reasons.

Jardin was succeeded by her husband Ramon Jardin, the number one village councilman, who took his oath of office before Mayor Evelio Leonardia on Thursday at the Bacolod Government Center.

Jardin said she submitted her resignation letter to Leonardia on October 18, but it was received by the mayor only on Thursday.

She had served as barangay captain for almost six years before stepping down from her post.

With her resignation and with her husband assuming the post of village chief, there is vacancy in the barangay council.

Jardin said the councilmen will recommend who will occupy the vacant position and will be appointed by the mayor.

She added that she will lay low for a bit, but she also has a plan for her career next month.

Leonardia said it was a personal decision of Jardin to resign.

“We have to respect it and in due time, we will know her reason,” the mayor said.

Reports said Jardin will be appointed as director of Bacolod City Water District.
