CITY OF SAN FERNANDO - Some 55 market vendors from this capital city on Monday received tabletop fish stalls from the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Region III (BFAR-3) as aid in their livelihood.
The stainless fish stalls were distributed to the tenants of the Old Public Market to ensure cleanliness and sanitation on the vending sites for fish merchandise.
BFAR-3 Director Wilfredo Cruz, who led the distribution of the facility, said that the program is part of the promotion of fish and other seafood as one of the primary entree in every Filipino table.
He stressed that programs promoting fish vending will raise the income of merchants and increase the production of farmers.
Cruz also cited the benefits of eating seafood which are excellent sources of minerals including potassium, selenium, zinc and iodine.
"We are not only helping our fish farmers in their production but in marketing their products as well through this program. Such programs not only increase their income but also help provide healthy lifestyle to every Filipino family," he said.
