Fire razes 24 houses in Cogon Pardo

CEBU CITY – At least 24 houses were burned in a fire that broke out Saturday morning in Barangay Cogon Pardo in this city.

The Cebu City Fire Department said the fire started at 6:10 a.m. in Sitio Laguna II, Barangay Cogon Pardo.

Firefighters put the flames under control around 6:30 a.m.

The City Fire Department said damage to property was pegged at P200,000.

“Some of the fire victims were temporarily sheltered at the barangay gym. We are still in the process of determining the numbers of families affected,” a barangay official said.

Investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the blaze.

Last April 5, 570 individuals were left homeless after a fire swept through many houses that were mostly made of light materials in Sitio Mansanitas, Barangay Cogon Pardo. (Jad A. Conde/Sunnex)
