Flower project to make Baguio bloom again

THE Departments of Tourism and Public Works and Highways in the region are planning to beautify Baguio by planting hundreds of flowers throughout the city.

DPWH Regional Director Edilberto Carabbacan said DOT’s new regional director Maria Venus Quinto-Tan is planning to launch "Rev Bloom Baguio."

"Rev (short for revitalize) Bloom Baguio is an initiative to bring back the old glory of Baguio," Carabbacan said.

The plan is to adorn the facades of stores in the city with flowers.

The concept will be tried out on establishments in the Central Business District, especially on Session Road.

Flowers will also be planted at the center islands of Session Road.

Carabbacan said the idea of Rev Bloom Baguio is to promote partnership not only among government agencies but also with private individuals, groups or even accredited non-government organizations.

"This is to change the culture or idea that any development should start from the government," he said.
