“SHE lives in Rio. She works hard at her nine-to-five job, but now, it’s the weekend. She can finally let her hair down and truly enjoy herself. Wearing a white silk chiffon mini dress, she relaxes on her day bed sipping rosehip tea while browsing through a coffee table book. It’s how she stays calm; barely containing her excitement as she is about to meet her lover at the beach. She gets up, puts on a pair of gold earrings set with aquamarine. She wears it like her lucky charm. It’s what gives her that extra boost of confidence. Taking one last look at the mirror, she takes a deep breath, smiles and heads out the door,” Jarra related the narrative behind her Holiday 2016 collection titled Copacabana.
Using her vivid imagination, she took inspiration from one of Brazil’s busiest cities noting the fact that it has its bustling industrious streets but also fully embraced an active beach culture and tropical lifestyle. The collection of fine jewelry fuses classic lines and settings with precious gems in vivid colors reflecting the hues of summery flora and fruits; Jarra’s craving for a taste of the tropics stems from living in arid Dubai, UAE and temperate Cologne, Germany in recent years.
Graduating with a degree in Gemology from the International Gemological Academy in Colombo, Sri Lanka and a Diamond Grader diploma from HRD Antwerp in Belgium, Jarra Angbetic returns to her hometown of Cebu to showcase her new collection of fine jewelry under her eponymous label.
On Nov. 11, Jarra will host her first trunk show in the city in collaboration with design concept store Holi Cow at their showroom located in Crossroads, Banilad. The one-day event will run from 1 to 7 p.m. (PR)
