Furnishings store expands, targets 12 branches

SAVERS Home Depot, a homegrown supplier of furnishing materials, aims to open 12 branches across Visayas and Mindanao by the end of 2018.

The company recently opened its fourth branch in Talamban, Cebu City last Sunday.

According to Kendrick Sulay, president and chief executive officer of Savers Depot, the construction boom in the province encouraged them to open a new branch, particularly in an area where there is robust residential construction.

“There is a growing construction activity in Cebu and big players from Manila are coming here. If we will not expand, growth will stay as is,” Sulay said in an interview.

Unlike other construction company, Sulay said they positioned their stores near residential areas to provide convenience to homeowners and developers.

Savers Home Depot was established in 2009. The company is targeting to open one branch per year, offering more than 160 brands in the furnishing industry. It other three branches in Lapu-Lapu City, Maguikay in Mandaue and in the North Reclamation Area.

Sulay, however, declined to disclose investments for the planned expansions but said they will be putting emphasis on the quality of products and the competitive price they will be offering to consumers.

By the middle of next year, the company will begin expanding outside Cebu.

Sulay said they will also carry furniture items to complete their offering to the furnishing industry.

“We want to revive this segment so we can also serve the requirements of the growing condominiums here,” he said.

Savers Home Depot imports furniture from Malaysia and China. The firm also plans to tie up with local furniture exporters. “We plan to include selling furniture in our future branches,” he said.

The firm is also open to venture into real estate development, if opportunities come their way, he said.
