Garcia, 24 other lawmakers endorse impeach raps vs Sereno

DEPUTY Speaker Gwendolyn Garcia joined 24 other lawmakers in endorsing the impeachment complaint filed by lawyer Larry Gadon against Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno.

Before the 7 p.m. closing of the House of Representatives' Office of the Secretary General, Gadon was able to file his verified impeachment complaint.

Gadon listed 27 instances in which Sereno committed impeachable offenses under the four following grounds: Violation of the Constitution, corruption, betrayal of public trust, and other high crimes.

"All charges were backed up by public documents," Gadon said.

Aside from Garcia, other representatives who endorsed Gadon’s complaint are listed below:

Earlier in the day, House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez shared that "many lawmakers" are eager to endorse the complaint against Sereno.

Gadon was accusing Sereno of having a lavish lifestyle, acting unilaterally on some SC matters that require en banc approval, and for allegedly misdeclaring her wealth. (SunStar Philippines)
