Gov’t engineer dies in gun attack

A GOVERNMENT engineer was shot and killed by motorcycle-riding gunmen in Zamboanga Sibugay province, the police said Tuesday, March 20.

Chief Inspector Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, identified the victim as engineer Jarano Dacula, a resident of Bangkerohan village, Ipil town.

Galvez said Dacula was shot and killed at 5:30 p.m. Monday at Purok Boguinvilla, Don Andres village, Ipil.

She said Dacula was driving motorcycle on the way home when two men riding on another motorcycle blocked his path and repeatedly shot the victim.

The police officer said the victim was rushed but failed to reach the hospital alive. The suspects sped off towards the town proper of Ipil.

Recovered from the crime scene were six empty shells of caliber .45 pistol.

Galvez said the Ipil police are eyeing personal grudge as the most possible motive of the incident. (SunStar Philippines)
