Guest speaker Paralympics medalist Dumapong in MPG forum

PARALYMPICS powerlifter Adeline Dumapong-Ancheta and Muay Thai Association of the Philippines secretary-general Pearl Managuelod are resource speakers of the 2017 Mindanao Peace Games (MPG) Athletes Forum slated October 27 at the 7th floor Finster Hall of Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU) Jacinto Campus.

MPG main convener Noli Ayo, who is also the Addu athletics director, said this during the Davao Sportswriters Association Forum held at the NCCC Mall Food Cove function hall Thursday, October 5.

Dumapong, who recently won a gold medal in the 9th Asean Para Games 2017 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, is the first Filipina to win a bronze medal after her 2000 Summer Paralympics stint.

Theresa Badoy, founder of RockEd Philippines, and Olympian marathoner Mary Joy Tabal were among their guests in past editions of the MPG held in Cagayan de Oro City and in General Santos City.

"The MPG's aspiration is that through these role models, young Mindanaoans will embrace more their role as leaders in their schools and communities through what they do in sports," Ayo said.

Athletes of non-MPG member schools are welcome to join the free registration forum.

The MPG will also hold a trivia night, popcorn and movie night, team captain's leadership forum and coaches' forum aside from the games.

This event is supported by One Meralco Foundation, Smart, Discover Leisure Company and Hawk Bags.
