HEAVILY armed men have seized a fisherman in a coastal village of Zamboanga del Norte, the police reported Friday.
Zamboanga Peninsula Police Regional information officer Dahlan Samuddin identified the victim as Annon Dansalan, 47, a resident of Sitio Logpond in the village of Poblacion, Sibuco, Zamboanga del Norte.
Samuddin said investigation showed Dansalan was seized by seven gunmen clad in fatigue uniforms and bonnet masks around 1 a.m. Thursday from his residence.
Samuddin said the gunmen even claimed to be members of the military.
The gunmen took the victim toward the swampy area of Poblacion village.
Samuddin said the policemen of Sibuco town headed by Senior Inspector Daryl Asaali have coordinated with the military and the police stations of nearby towns to help them track down Dansalan.
He said no group has so far claimed responsibility over the abduction of the fisherman. (Bong Garcia)
