Helper shot dead

A MALE helper who was riding a tricycle was shot to death by an unidentified man at Sitio Batang, Barangay Talaban in Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental Sunday.

Killed was Jessie Flores, 30, of Tuyabang Bajo, Oroquieta City, Misamis Occidental. He had been working in the province for almost two months.

Chief Inspector Antonio Benitez Jr., city police chief, said Flores was on his way home around 2 a.m. from a drinking session when the incident happened.

He boarded a tricycle with another passenger, but they both noticed that they were heading to a different direction. Flores argued with the driver and his unidentified companion, who was seated behind him.

Flores disembarked and he was shot by the driver’s companion. They both grappled for the firearm, but the gunman fired at Flores again.

The other passenger ran away.

Flores sustained three gunshot wounds and was rushed to a hospital, where he was declared dead. The assailant and the tricycle driver escaped.

Police recovered from the scene two fired bullets and a slug of .45 caliber pistol.

Benitez said they already have three persons of interest. (GYM)
