Iacat's mural painting first brush set today

THE Inter-agency Council Against Trafficking (Iacat) Davao Region is set to conduct Friday, November 11, the first brush of their mural painting project that will mark the start of the observation of the Human Trafficking Awareness Month from which will end on December 12.

The launching is set along J.P Laurel in front of the former Davao Mental Hospital.

Regional Prosecutor Janet Grace Fabrero said that she will lead the first brush along the presence of the Iacat Davao region members.

The project, dubbed "Violence Free Community Starts with Me", is also in support to the International Day Against Trafficking in Persons and 18 Day Violence Against Women Campaign (VAWC).

Fabrero said authorities from the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Bureau of Fire Protection cleaned the walls in preparation for the mural painting Thursday, November 10.

"I will lead the ceremonial first brush with other Iacat agencies and we will also sign a memorandum of agreement," she said.

Fabrero added the three-year agreement with the previous mural painting sponsor has already expired.

"Ngayon anti-trafficking and Violence Against Women ang concept, plus environment protection for the Department of Tourism and Habitat for Humanity," she said.

The regional prosecutor said volunteer artists are set to paint positive images of the theme.

The event is in partnership with the Department of Tourism and Habitat for Humanity. (KVC)
