Ibaloy parbuster to see action in Fil-Am Golf

SIXTEEN-year-old golf prodigy Luigi Paolo Wong is set to raise the banner of Cordiller par busters a he sees action in the premiere championship flight of the Department of Tourism Fil-Am Invitational Golf Tournament.

Wong was part of the national team that saw action in the last SouthEast Asian Games will be the second Ibaloy to play in the premiere flight after Mars Pucay in the early 90s who went on to become a professional player.

The local pride will be joining Junjun Plana who is expected to lead Manila Southwoods retain the crown in the Fil Championship flights that include 2017 Northern Luzon Regiomal Golf Tournament champion Aidric Chan, who at 18 is also part of the Ateneo team that won last month’s Inter-school tournament.

The team, which misses last year’s individual champion Yuto Katsuragawa, will call on Carl Corpus and Hyung Kim Joo.

Brothers King and Ace Stehmeier will once again backstop one time champion Mizuno – X1R in a bid to oust Southwoods when play starts at the Camp John Hay course. Others in the lineup are Justin Tambunting, Brixton Aw and last week’s Seniors Fil Champ winner Rodel Mangalubnan.

Raymund Sangil formerly of Mizuno plays with Royal Northwoods with Carlo Villaroman, Richard Joson, Luis Castro and Nik Gatmaytan.

Forest Hills, also a former one time champion, will lean on Iñigo Raymundo, Jude Eustaquio, Rocky Co, Dan Cruz and Mark Chan Lu.

Chepe Dulay, another Southwoods veteran, leads the Am side and will play with Lanz Uy, Kristoffer Arevalo, Jama Reyes and GJ Katigbak.

Seeing action also in Am Championship are: Team Time Cargo Logistics, Leeward – Fil-Am and Razons of Guagua.

Am action will be at the short but tricky par 61 BCC course.
