Ick-joo's golf set recovered in Caloocan funeral parlor

THE wife of the murdered South Korean trader positively identified Thursday the golf set, which was recovered from a funeral parlor in Caloocan City by the members of the Philippine National Police-Anti-Kidnapping Group (PNP-AKG).

AKG legal officer Superintendent Dennis Wagas said their operatives conducted a search inside Gream Funeral Homes in Barangay Bagbaguin, owned by Gerardo Gregorio Santiago, a retired cop and the incumbent barangay chairman.

During the search, the team recovered the 14-piece golf set and three golf club covers that, according to Choi Kyung Jin, belong to her husband Korean businessman Jee Ick-joo.

Ick-joo was abducted from his residence in Angeles City, Pampanga, in October by suspects who reportedly introduced themselves as members of the PNP-Anti-Illegal Drugs Group (AIDG).

"[According to the witness] binayad kay Santiago [itong golf set] para doon maitago ‘yung bangkay nung biktima. Ang nagdala daw doon ay 'yung mga respondents na kinakasuhan natin ngayon [including] SPO3 Ricky Sta. Isabel," Wagas said.

Wagas said the golf set is work P100,000.

Earlier, PNP chief Ronald Dela Rosa said there are at least eight persons involved in the abduction of Ick-joo, including Sta. Isabel and Santiago. (SunStar Philippines)
