IED found in junkshop in Davao

AN IMPROVISED explosive device (IED) was found inside a junkshop at Km. 7, Diversion Road, Buhangin, Davao City.

Around 1 p.m., Wednesday, Buhangin Police Station received a call from a concerned citizen after they found an M-76 rifle grenade inside the PPMRI buy and sell scrap metal.

Authorities immediately responded to the area headed by Police Chief Inspector Milgrace Driz in coordination with the Tactical Support Platoon of the Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) team of the Davao City Police Office (DCPO).

The shop's operation manager, who was identified as Wealton Uy, 58, found the IED along with a pile of scrap materials at the back of the junkshop.

After his discovery, Uy instantly reported to the foot patroller who was assigned in NHA, Buhangin.

The IED is now under the custody of EOD at DCPO. (JPC)
