Iloilo City opens customer care center for public complaints

THE Iloilo City Government has opened a customer care center for public complaints against any City Hall employee or officials in a move to help stem the tide of graft and corruption at the City Government.

The customer care center is also envisioned to help speed up City Hall transactions and services to the general public, specifically the poor city constituents.

City Administrator Hernando Galvez said City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog thought of the service scheme to fast-track services and other programs of the City Government with the transacting public serving as eyes and ears of City Hall.

“Let’s face it, city officials and employees could not cope up with the bulk of workload and it takes the general public to inform us what they need,” Galvez said.

The customer care center will be manned by Eireen Manikan of the city administration as executive director with members from the city legal office, public information office, human resource office, and a representative from the civil society or non-government organization.

Mayor Mabilog will head the committee with Galvez as vice chair.

The customer care center will receive complaints or recommendations from the general public about the City Government services and is different from the grievance committee which deals specifically on complaints filed by an employee against a fellow employee of the city.
