Iloilo employment office nominated for 2015 Best Peso Award

THE Public Service Employment Office (Peso) of the Iloilo Provincial Government was chosen as a nominee for the Best Peso Award under the First Class Province Category in the upcoming 16th National PESO Congress.

Governor Arthur Defensor, Sr. learned of this development through the letter sent by Bureau of Local Employment director Dominique Tutay of Department of Labor and Employment (Dole).

Earlier, the regional office of Dole declared the Iloilo Peso, under the leadership of Francisco Heler, Jr., as winner in the regional level.

Dole cited the Iloilo Peso’s active role in “developing and strengthening the employment facilitation at the grassroots level.”

This year’s Best Peso Awards Night will be held on October 14, 2016 at the Waterfront Hotel and Casino in Cebu City.

The Iloilo Peso has been reaping awards from Dole for many years because of its exemplary performance.

Peso Iloilo was formerly attached with the Human Resource and Development Office (HRMDO) of the Provincial Government.

Last October 2015, Governor Defensor approved Provincial Ordinance No. 2015-122 establishing the Peso as a separate office of the Iloilo Provincial Government to further improve its functions and services.

It is tasked to ensure the prompt, timely, and efficient delivery of employment service and provision of information on other Dole programs.

Among the programs and activities being undertaken by the Peso are: Job fairs, Livelihood and self-employment bazaars, Special Program for Employment of Students and Out-of-School Youth, Special Recruitment Activity, Electronic Manpower and Skills Registry System, and other programs/activities developed by the Dole for special groups of disadvantaged workers such as persons with disabilities and displaced workers.
