‘Improve Chinatown drainage system’

BACOLOD City Councilor Sonya Verdeflor has reiterated her request to the City Engineer’s Office to consider with urgency the improvement of the drainage system of the Chinatown Center to address the flooding problem in the area.

Verdeflor said the Chinatown Center, also known as the Capitol Shopping Center, especially along Narra and Tindalo Avenues, experience floods during the rainy season due to defective or insufficient drainage system resulting to stagnant water with very foul odor at the sidewalks and gutters.

“Typhoons or heavy rains are frequent during the month of November, thus there is an urgent need for the City of Bacolod to address this perennial problem that our constituents are suffering year after year,” she added.

The Chinatown Center was declared a “potential growth center” in Bacolod City under City Ordinance No. 576, Series of 2011, and is being developed as a festival site during the annual celebration of Bacolaodiat, Verdeflor added.
