Indonesian with ISIS links charged with rebellion

POLICE filed on Thursday criminal complaints against an Indonesian arrested for alleged ties to terror group ISIS.

The Indonesian, identified as Muhammad Ilham Syahputra, was charged by the Philippine National Police with a complaint for rebellion and violations of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulatory Act (Republic Act 10591), Law on Explosives (Republic Act 9516) and International Humanitarian Law (Republic Act 9581).

Syahputra underwent inquest proceedings at the Quezon City Prosecutor's Office.

Syahputra was arrested on Wednesday by members of the Barangay Peacekeeping Action Teams of Barangay Loksadatu and was turned over to the police and military.

Recovered from Syahputra were a fragmentation grenade, firearm, and ammunition, cash, gold bracelets, computer tablet, mobile phone and passport. He is currently detained in Camp Crame, Quezon City.

Syahputra arrived in the Philippines in November 2016 upon the invitation of slain Abu Sayyaf leader and ISIS Southeast Asia emir Isnilon Hapilon.
