THE Judicial Bar and Council (JBC) released Friday a shortlist for the vacant Associate Justice post at the anti-graft court Sandiganbayan.
Included in the shortlist are: lawyers Dennis Patrick Perez, Perpetuo Lucero Jr. and Walter Ong; Makati Regional Trial Court (RTC) branch 141 Judge Maryann Corpuz-Mañalac, Tuguegarao RTC branch 1 Judge Raymond Reynold Lauigan and Baguio RTC branch 4 Judge Mia Joy Oallares-Cawed.
The candidates are vying to replace the position to be vacated by the late Associate Justice Maria Cristina Cornejo.
Cornejo who opted for early retirement early this year died due to colon cancer just last September.
The shortlist of applicants who have passed the screening of the seven-man JBC will be submitted to President Rodrigo Duterte.
Duterte has 90 days to choose Cornejo's replacement. (SunStar Philippines)
