Jessy Mendiola counts blessings amid controversies

JESSY Mendiola keeps a positive attitude amid all the negative criticisms thrown at her.

For some time now, the Kapamilya actress has been bombarded with hate messages on her Instagram account, especially after she became more public of her relationship with television host Luis Manzano.

Mendiola was body-shamed when she was hailed the sexiest woman in the country and was dragged in Manzano and Angel Locsin's split.

The 23-year-old said that it sometimes gets into her but she has learned to accept and let go.

"Okay lang, tanggap ko na, na yung iba ayaw sa akin. Pero ganun talaga ang buhay, may mga ayaw sa iyo pero may gusto din sa iyo," she said Tuesday, November 22, at the grand media launch of her newest movie "Mano Po 7: Chinoy" under Regal Films.

Right now, the Kapamilya star said she prefers to post positive things online to distract herself from bashers and trolls.

She also learned that not everyone will like her.

"I guess ganun lang naman talaga ang tao. May time na masasaktan ka, may time din na you will emerge stronger."

It helps that Manzano, her rumored boyfriend, was very supportive of all her endeavors, be that personal or professional.

Mendiola said the TV host inspires her to do better in her craft and to not take things too seriously.

"Sobrang supportive [ni Luis]. Pag minsan parang hindi ko na kaya, siya yun, 'This is for you. You have two films coming up and pag-igihan mo lang.' Coming from someone who is very blessed and who's very good at what he does, sobrang happy ko na may isang tao na naniniwala sa akin."

This 2016, Mendiola counts being with Manzano as one of her blessings.

She also mentioned being hailed as FHM Sexiest Woman in the Philippines and being recognized as Best Asia Pacific Star in Korea as her achievements.

The actress said all the good and positive things trampled the negatives.

"Pakiramdam ko na nagsisimula ako. Siguro ganun talaga pag hindi mo masyadong napapansin yung panahon. Kapag you take one step at a time, hindi mo napapansin na lumagpas na yung 2016 na ang dami mong nagawa."

"Masaya ako na maraming nangyari ngayong 2016. All the more na I'm looking forward to 2017. Sabi ko nga, pag may mga nawawala, may darating talaga na para sa iyo. I'm taking one step at a time, day by day, para hindi din ako ma-overwhelm."

Her attention now focuses on “Mano Po 7: Chinoy,” her comedy gag show “Banana Sundae” and an upcoming big screen project.

As for her message to her detractors, Mendiola only has this to say: "Happy na lang tayong lahat." (Sunnex)
