Joey Concepcion appointed as co-chair of EPPC

PRESIDENTIAL Adviser on Entrepreneurship Joey Concepcion has been appointed as the vice chairperson of the Edsa People Power Commission (EPPC).

The appointment letter was signed by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, head of the EPPC, on Monday.

Created through Executive Order 82 in 1999, the EPPC is the government agency tasked to organize and implement the annual commemoration of the 1986 Edsa Revolution.

The commission’s duties include promoting awareness of the events, and the beliefs of the people that sparked the People Power Revolution, which led to the fall of the Marcos dictatorship.

Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella earlier said that the theme of this year’s commemoration is “A Day of Reflection: Celebrating People Power.”

Abella said the Palace would commemorate the 31st anniversary of the Edsa uprising in a “very simple and very quiet manner.”

“The emphasis has shifted. It is no longer a celebration of the past; it is now a reflection on what can happen in the future. It’s moving on from those stage,” the presidential spokesperson said. (SunStar Philippines)
