Joint Task Group Haribon launched in Davao

THE Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) created a joint task force to boost security in Davao City being the “home city” of President Rodrigo Duterte.

The Eastern Mindanao Command (Eastmincom) activated the Joint Task Force (JTF) Haribon, which was comprised of Task Force Davao, Task Force Samal, Navy Special Operations Unit of the Naval Forces Eastern Mindanao, 11th Tactical Operations Group, 84th Infantry Brigade and the Special Operations Wing of the Philippine Air Force.

Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio was among the guests during the activation of JTF Haribon at the Naval Station in Felix Apolinario in Panacan, Davao City on Saturday, October 22.

Brigadier General Ronnie Evangelista, former commander of the Special Forces Regiment, is the JTF Haribon commander.

Major Ezra Balagtey, spokesperson of Eastmincom, said the reason for creating the joint task force is to strengthen security in the city after the Roxas night market blast a month ago which took 16 lives and wounded 69 others.
