Jolina Magdangal keen for baby number 2

JOLINA Magdangal is hoping to get pregnant this year.

The “Magandang Buhay” host disclosed in an interview on Monday that even before their son, Pele, turned three, she her husband Mark Escueta have already discussed expanding their family in the near future.

“Hindi naman sa naghahabol pero gusto na talaga namin siyang sundan. Ayoko na lang isipin na kinakailangan kasi baka hindi ibigay. Wishing kami kasi ayaw ko din talaga na malayo ang agwat kasi gusto ko na close sila,” she said at the press launch of their latest endorsement, the Super Twins Easy Wear Baby Pants.

Magdangal added that Pele is already at the age where he can now understand and appreciate the things and people around him.

And even with their busy schedules, the Kapamilya star said it’s going to be a challenge to have a second child, but they’re ready for it.

They will also opt to be hands-on parents, just like how they raise Pele.

Escueta said having no babysitter not only allowed them to personally see their son’s growth, but it also strengthened their bond as a family.

“We wanted to be hands-on as possible. Although we have a helper sa house and if we need the assistance, nagpapatulong kami. Pero sa bahay 95 percent of the time, kami talaga ang nag-aalaga,” the Rivermaya frontman said.

Magdangal shared they take turns in looking after their son. Pele would sometimes go to her at tapings or accompany Escueta for band rehearsal.

“Basta may work, kung kaya kong isama si Pele, isasama ko talaga siya. Minsan kalaro niya yung RM (road manager) ko or kung hindi naman yung driver,” she said.

Escueta added, “Sa nature na din ng work namin, minsan two-three days akong wala sa bahay. 'Pag andoon naman ako gusto ko lahat ng oras ko nasa kanya.”

But parenthood did not lessen their alone time with each other. Both agreed that it’s difficult to leave Pele to their parents sometimes, but they see to it that they will have quality time together.

“Mahilig kami mag declare ng holiday. We’d go to random dinners if we both don’t have work and we try to bring Pele most of the time. But if it’s us just two, our families are still there to look after him,” he said.

Escueta and Magdangal tied the knot in 2011 and welcomed Pele two years after. (SunStar Philippines)
