Judge’s house strafed in Dumaguete City

A HOUSE of a judge in Barangay Daro, Dumaguete City was strafed by four unidentified men on board two motorcycles Thursday.

Superintendent Jovito Atanacio, chief of Dumaguete City Police Station, who withheld the name of the judge, said the house was fired upon by assailants around 12:49 a.m. based on a copy of a closed circuit television (CCTV) footage from the adjacent house of the judge’s brother.

The judge’s 25-year-old son, who was in the house, heard a blast and successive gunfire.

He called for police assistance, and personnel of the Special Weapons and Tactics of Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office responded and conducted a post-blast investigation. No injury was reported.

Atanacio said the incident might have been triggered by the judge’s service-related cases.

No threats were reported against him, the police chief said.

Investigators recovered 17 bullets of .9mm and three deformed bullets outside the gate along with a fragmented splinter, pieces of fragmented metal jacket, and a safety lever in the garage.

The recovered evidence were subjected to ballistic examination.
