Kaizen’s newest craze

A YEAR over and I still have the same cravings for Kaizen as I first had it. I mentioned before that there’s a lot already like it in town but there’s only one Kaizen.

I can really say that what makes a restaurant is the details, well of course, the food, primarily the food. But it also takes the vibe to get you into that whole spirit of Japanese dining.

Inside is kind of intimate as it is supposed to; the counter, the kitchen, and two tables fit but it is clean and everything is orderly. The staff also wears proper clothing; everyone has a hairnet and looks pleasing in spite of moving so fast to follow the orders of the customers.

There are more chairs by the street, and the grilled next to you makes you want more of it. Ugh the smell of Butabara is so tempting, if you’re on a diet, hahaha the moment you go there, you’re already defeated but that’s okay, this cheat meal is totally worth it.

So, this time I tried the newest addition in their menu and to say that it’s just good is an understatement. There were two new rolls in the list and one of these is crafted to financially support the victims of the ongoing clash in Marawi City in Lanao del Sur, Chef Dana wittingly calls it the Martial Roll.

The Martial Roll has that fruity taste because of the Avocado toppings and sweetness from Tempura flakes in special sauce. It’s also very filling as it is loaded with Tempura Tuna and Masago (Fish Caviar) so I advise that you go in batches on your next visit or if you think you can have it all, just skip a meal or two before going there.

The other roll is sexier, well it’s named after their newest ambassador, Dewanie on the roll. It’s way bigger than the other one, it has shredded crab legs, cucumber, fresh tuna, Norwegian salmon, a sprinkle of Masago (fish caviar), and green onions torched with Dewanie sauce.

This one has a bit of kick as it tastes quite spicy than the rest, it’s yummy all the same though.

After munching on these rolls, you can flush it out with sweet treats just like I did. I had (I can’t recall but I think it’s) Green tea tapioca with mango. A bowl of it and I’m ready to eat more.

What’s diet again?
