THE police have arrested one of the six gunmen behind the recent abduction of a businessman's son in Zamboanga del Norte, the police said Sunday.

Arrested was Omar Wahab, 25, a resident of the village of Malambuhangin, Siocon, Zamboanga del Norte, said Zamboanga Peninsula police spokesman Senior Inspector Joseph Ortega.

Ortega said Wahab was arrested around 3:05 p.m. Friday in the village of Bucana, Siocon, Zamboanga del Norte.

Ortega said that Wahab was positively identified by witnesses as one of the suspects who served as look-out when six gunmen abducted Michael Kho, 27, who father, Allan, is a businessman.

Kho was inside the family-owned gasoline station in the village of Poblacion, when four of the six gunmen barged in and seized him around around 6:35 p.m. last Tuesday.

Kho was forced to board on the suspects' getaway vehicle, a KIA Sportage with plated number YES-613.

The getaway vehicle was recovered in the village of Latabon in the outskirts of Siocon.

Ortega said that investigation showed the vehicle was registered in the name of Ronaldo Enovejas and sold to Jerwin Biao of Ayala village, Zamboanga City.

Further investigation is being conducted as to how the vehicle reached the hands of the suspects behind the abduction of Kho, Ortega said.

Manhunt operation continues to arrest the other five suspects who are at large, Ortega said.
