Kidnappers demand P2.5M from the victim’s family

AUTHORITIES are still clueless on the whereabouts of a resident in Linamon town, Lanao del Norte, Mike Ulad Sangcopan after he was allegedly abducted by three unidentified men who pretended to be customers of his rental place in the same town last Wednesday, May 3.

Initial investigation shows that at about 7:32 am, Sangcopan, 36, was seen, through a closed-circuit television (CCTV), talking with an unidentified person inside his residence.

Sangcopan willingly accompanied the suspect outside his house for a conversation, when suddenly, two persons went out a maroon Toyota Revo vehicle without a plate number, and grabbed Sangcopan, forcibly taking him inside the vehicle.

A police report said the victim’s wife Bairona Rasid Sangcopan said that on May 1, an unidentified person inquired for the rental fees of the area which will be used for a wedding, and deposited an amount worth P10,000.

The person, however, told them later that the wedding will not push through, yet the deposited money was still not taken by the person in case the event would be realized.

Police Superintendent Lemuel Gonda said they still haven't established the motive of the kidnapping. The suspects have asked a ransom money worth P2.5 million.

Gonda said the couple are known businessmen in the area.

The Linamon Municipal Police Station is now conducting pursuit operation for the arrest of the suspects and the recovery of the victim.
