Kin of slain housewife raise bounty for killer’s arrest

CANDABA -- The family of Catherine Tobias-Delos Santos, the housewife who was recently killed by their fishpond caretaker, has raised a cash reward for any information leading to the arrest of the suspect.

The 29-year old Tobias-Delos Santos was stabbed to death by their stay-in worker Rodolfo Yupio, Jr. in their home in Barangay Lanang shortly after midnight of Sunday, April 30.

According to the town’s Police Chief Superintendent Paul Gamido, the suspect attacked the family of Tobias-Delos Santos after allegedly refusing to grant his cash advance request.

Yupio, however, was able to escape after a brawl with the victim’s husband, Jake Joseph or “Jackie” who also sustained multiple stab wounds in different parts of his body.

Their two children, aged 5 and 2, were spared from the crime after Jake Joseph secured them in a room.

The Delos Santos and Tobias family are now crying for justice on the untimely death of the victim caused by someone whom they also considered as “family.”

Jake Joseph said that Yupio had been working for them for nearly six years now and never thought that the suspect can commit such crime against his family.

The family has now raised a bounty amounting to P400,000 for anyone who can point to or give information on the whereabouts of the suspects.

The victim’s friends and relatives have also sought the help of netizens in Facebook for the possible sighting of Yupio.

Meanwhile, Gamido said their station has intensified its manhunt operation against Yupio and is continuously coordinating with other police stations in the region as well as in Metro Manila.

He added that they are also visiting hospitals where the suspect could have himself admitted after also sustaining various cuts and wounds in his body.
