Lacson St. ‘no parking’ schedule extended

THE Bacolod City Council approved the request of Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) to extend the “no parking” schedule along Lacson Street from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Councilor Caesar Distrito, chairperson of committee on laws, said Friday, February 2, the extension is needed to make sure that traffic would be minimized along the national highway.

He said that 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. is still rush hour where there is heavy traffic.

“BTAO personnel should be strict in enforcing the policy to ensure the smooth flow of traffic in the area,” Distrito added.

The BacoLaodiat Festival organizers are seeking a road closure at Lacson Tourism Strip from February 14 to 18.

In her letter to the City Council dated January 29, 2018, Jennifer Ong, chairperson of BacoLaodiat Festival, said that through the past 12 years, despite the baby steps in the past, the BacoLaodiat Festival has bloomed into what it is today, all because of the all-out support of the local government unit especially the august members of the City Council at the helm.

“Thus, this 2018, we take bigger strides as we set the 13th BacoLaodiat Festival on February 15-17 at the South Capitol Road and Lacson Tourism Strip while simultaneous celebration will also be happening on February 17 and 18 at the Bacolod Government Center to reach wider audiences,” Ong said.

On February 14, organizers will set up a corporate stage along Lacson Street from 10 p.m. to 12 midnight.
