ILOILO Governor Arthur Defensor Sr. has provided P6.3-million financial assistance to the Municipal Government of Lambunao to complete the community infrastructure projects in its 10 priority villages.
Lambunao Mayor Jason Gonzales, together with the concerned punong barangays, received the amount from the governor during their recent visit in Iloilo City.
Among the community infrastructure projects assisted by the Provincial Government are the completion of San Gregorio Bailey Bridge (P600,000) and construction of concrete overflow and slope protection (P2.5 million) in Barangay San Gregorio, Lambunao.
“We are thankful to the governor for solving our problem in San Gregorio. Once these projects are complete, the residents, especially the students, will no longer suffer from the inconvenience of crossing the river,” said San Gregorio village chief Jose Glenn Lasado.
He said that every time it rains, they have to wait for three hours for the river water to subside before they allow their residents to cross the river.
“The problem, if not solved, is putting our lives in peril,” he said, adding it is also among the reasons why some students from the barangay ca cannot attend their classes.
The governor also provided P200,000 assistance to construct the perimeter fence of Barangay Coto.
The remaining P3 million is the province’s counterpart fund for the projects of Kalahi-CIDSS in the following barangays:
* Construction of hanging foot bridge in Barangay Agsirab (P582,500)
* Construction of one unit two classroom building in Caguisanan Elementary School (P257,700)
* Road concreting in Barangay Corot-on (P195,900)
* Construction of hanging bridge from Barangay San Gregorio to Caninguan (P354,600)
* Joint road access to Lambunao East 1 from Barangay Coto to Magbato, Badiangan, Caloy-ahan and Agtuman (P846,900)
* Road opening in Barangay Pungsod (P142,950)
* Construction of box culvert in Barangay Daanbanwa and Barangay Lumanay (P187,500)
* Road concreting in Barangay Maite Pequeño (P195,900)
* Construction of health station in Barangay Legayada (P129,900)
* Road concreting in Barangay Capangyan (P106,600)
