Largest strawberry 'taho' unveiled in Baguio City

AS PART of the Department of Tourism’s month-long Flavors of the Philippines campaign, SM City Baguio in cooperation with the different establishments in Baguio City unveiled the largest strawberry taho.

Rona Correa, SM City Baguio mall manager, said they wanted to showcase strawberry and other products of the region through cooking demonstrations.

Taho is a Filipino snack food made of softened tofu, tapioca pearls and sweet syrup.

About 100 hotel and restaurant management students joined in the preparation of the giant taho with close to a thousand mall goers tasted the strawberry taho supplied by Luz Ventura.

Ingredients of the largest strawberry taho include 55 gallons of taho, 50 kilograms of fresh strawberries, eight kilograms of sago (tapioca pearls), 15 gallons of syrup and the taho placed in five tall glasses.

Before the unveiling of the giant taho, cooking demonstrations from different food establishment in the city showcased some products of the Cordillera region.

Pinuneg (blood sausage) and etag (smoked meat) were some of the Cordillera foods showcased during the cook-off.

Correa said through their promotions with the different products of the region, they believed these will be known more and will be appreciated by and foreign tourists.
