Lawin post assessment report readied

THE Office of the Civil Defense-Cordillera Administrative Region (OCD-CAR) expects to finish the post disaster needs assessment (PDNA) this week before it will be submitted to Malacanang.

OCD-CAR information officer Frances Ivy Carasi said the PDNA is a consolidated report of the Cordillera region from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Agriculture (DA), and the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA).

“This is to know the final number kung magkano ang iniwan na pinsala ni super typhoon Lawin, what are the needs, and what are the appropriate recommended rehabilitation programs sa mga damages,” Carasi said.

Carasi added the PDNA will help fast track identify programs of the government in rehabilitating damaged infrastructures, agriculture and other social institutions including provide assistance to those affected families caused by Lawin.

“Sana ang mga nasira ay hindi lang aayusin, dapat maging matibay ang mga ito. Sana mas maayos na ang mga infrastructure, magkaroon nang mas maayos na sistema. Ang mga initial reports kasi ay may mga schools at farmers pang nangangailangan ng tulong na hindi pa naabutan,” Carasi said. Since November 14, several field missions were conducted by OCD-CAR ion support with the different agencies in the region to conduct an assessment.

“By December 1, sana ma-consolidate na lahat at ma-finalize yung report, on December 2 i-prepresent sa rehab and recovery committee kasabay na diyan sa council natin. And by secondweek of December target natin na nakarating na ito sa National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) and Malacanang Office,” Carasi said.

The consolidated report will be presented by Cordillera Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (CDRRMC) Chairperson Director Andrew Alex Uy to all the member agencies. After the presentation in NDRRMC, it will be forwarded to the Office of the President.

“Ito ang mga bagay na kailangang bigyan ng pansin para at least fully maka-recover na tayo sa mga damages na iniwan ni Lawin,” Carasi ended.
