Leadership influence

OUR lives are constant living witnesses to others. It’s amazing how one’s leadership, heart for service, and mentoring get passed on.

Last March 12, the Junior Chamber International (JCI) Bacolod, Inc. (formerly known as Bacolod Jaycees) chartered another course with its 69th induction and turnover ceremonies at Planta Hotel and Residency.

Led by its 2017 president, Dr. Calvin Dave Ganub, the new set of officers pledged to not only continue the long and colorful history of the organization but to also find more ways of creating positive change in the community.

In his speech, Ganub lovingly paid tribute to his family and to his aunt, Bacolod Camia Jaycees past president Rose Depra, who influenced him in joining the JCI. As an active socio-civic servant, he saw how she was able to affect people and situations through her willingness to take on responsibilities. This became his inspiration in saying “yes” to the challenge of the presidency.

Ganub also honored the constant affection and support of his two mentors who were present that night, keynote speaker Dr. Ramon Lachica and Dr. Rowena Bañes.

Along with their professional and personal travels, the attitude of gratitude that they all shared is now one of the sources of strength that power the core group of JCI Bacolod Inc. as they blaze through new projects, gain more members, and serve more communities.

Among the guests are JCI Philippines national executive vice president Ken Ngo, representing national president Hegem Furigay, past national president Ismael Penado, area vice president Francis Gerona, regional vice president Ferdinand Daniel Magallanes, past president Wilson Gamboa, and guests from other JCI Philippines chapters.

Junior Chamber International is a leading global network of young active citizens which aims to provide development opportunities that empower young people to create positive change.
