THE 1985 Legends lorded it over the 1988 Barakos once more to get the top spot in Division 1 of the 2016 USC NABC President’s Cup held over the weekend at the University of San Carlos North Campus gym.
The Legends leaned on MVP ex-pro Lou Regidor to survive with a 69-64 win against the Barakos, who shared the lead with Batch ‘85 prior to their meeting.
Regidor scored 29 points and Virgil Pua added 13 points as the Legends finished the elimination round carrying a 7-1 win-loss record, while Edmund Odulio made 20 points and Dindo Sausa contributed 18 markers as the Barakos dropped to 6-2 for second place in Division 1.
The results of the other Division 1 games include 1994 Bulldogs beating the 1980 Chargers, 88-60; the Legends scoring a 59-51 win over the 1987 Bro; the 1986 Mighty Geeks scoring a 73-59 win over the 1984 Knights; and the 1993 Dragons beating the Bulldogs, 63-54.
In Division 2, the 2002 Legendary Lions banked on the 26 points of Enrico Llanto to stay unbeaten after the elimination round, following a 67-55 mastery over the 2001 DosMilUno squad.
While the 1999ers defeated the 1998 Sipat 72-62, 2000 Millennium beat the 1995 Pirates 64-59, the 1997 Ronnis manhandled the Millennium batch 66-48 and the 1996 Chubbies escaped with a 54-53 win against the 2003 Stallions in the other Division 2 matches.
The results of the Division 3 matches include the 2015 Samurias defeating the 2014 Underdogs 81-64; the 2006 Fury scoring an 80-67; win over the 2010 Pioneers; 2015 winning by forfeiture over the 2005 Chameleons; and the 2008 Flyboys beating the 2010 Pioneers, 80-67.
