AS BACOLOD City Mayor Evelio Leonardia will be ending his term at noontime of June 30, 2013, he has created a transition committee before the midterm elections started to ensure a smooth turn-over from the present administration to the incoming one.
Secretary to the Mayor Moises de la Cruz is the vice chairman of the committee.
He said there are about 2,000 plantilla and job order casual employees who will be affected by the transition and 912 plantilla casuals have already started to process their terminal pay.
Each department head of the city is also preparing their respective financial statements, he said.
De la Cruz said the purpose of the Mayor in creating a transition committee is to ensure that there will be no disruption between the Leonardia administration and the Puentevella administration.
“As a matter of fact, we are waiting for them to visit us so we can set the date where we can sit down to make the formal turn-over,” he said.
Terminal leave claims
It may not be a happy ending for Mayor Leonardia and his co-terminus and plantilla casual employees but that is the reality of politics that they all have to accept.
Leonardia said that it has been nine years that they were together and worked well, but his term has its limits and unfortunately it has to end noon time of June 30, 2013.
He said he was grateful working with them; thus, he will not leave the City Government without giving the said employees their benefits, such as their terminal leave pays which can help them start a livelihood.
He will request the Sangguniang Panlungsod the needed supplemental budget for the terminal leave claims of the said employees.
The finance committee will determine the needed amount before he sends his official request to the Sangguniang Panlungsod. (CNC)
