Libertad spikers hurdle `Kuyamis’ semis matches

LIBERTAD teams advanced to the men and women’s final after eliminating their respective semis foes in the 2017 Kuyamis Inter-Municipality Volleyball Tournament on Saturday at the El Salvador City Plaza covered courts, Misamis Oriental.

The Libertad spikers of coach Juancho Macsacay never gave Jasaan a set in a lopsided 25-14, 25-13 and 25-17 victory.

Comprising the men’s team are Carmelito Jagus, Elizor Uy, Mon Lorena, Jofrans Lorena, Jepoy Magsacay, Joshua Roa, Jhon Paul Roa, Frience Valdez, Derick Caco, Rey Uy, Dave Uy and Rodrick Namocot.

“Actually mga karaan ni sila nga line-up, and supposedly naa pay mas batan-on pa nila pero gi-accommodate sa nato sila una for this tournament,” said Coach Magsacay.

The Libertad lady spikers of coach Boy Abut, on the other hand, duplicated the feat of their male counterparts, wiping out Jasaan also in three-straight sets, 25-18, 25-16 and 25-10.

“We’re really determined to make it to the finala,” said coach Abut, who has daughter Jennifer Abut as his assistant coach.

The Abuts’ wards include Gwudyl Cajilla, Ella Cajilla, Missy Bongo, Esphe Anggot, Winnelyn Anggot, Joan Polinar, Ceilo Illana, Rheana Caayupan, Jessa Laray and Claudine Acain.

Libertad will face the winner between Manticao and Tagoloan for the men's final, while Libertad women's team will have either Laguindingan or Tagoloan.
