Life and lessons

MARITES Allen is the go-to person when it comes to bringing some luck into one’s life. Hailed as “The Philippine Feng Shui Queen,” she helps bring not only fortune but also harmony to people’s homes and businesses with testimonials from those who have seen dramatic changes in their lives.

With 2018 being the Year of the Earth Dog, the feng shui master shared her insights to her Cebuano fans and answered feng shui-related questions last Feb. 23 in an event called “Getting Things Right in 2018: Year of the Earth Dog Forecast by Marites Allen” at the Mountain Wing Atrium, SM Seaside City Cebu.

Allen through the years has made it her mission to help people by sharing her expertise in feng shui in different platforms. These include but are not limited to her official website, her almanacs and horoscopes, her auspicious fashion line “Frigga Charmed Life,” her newly released feng shui mobile app and the string of shows and talks she’s done.

Her books alone contain details like the nine flying stars and their importance in identifying which ones are the lucky and unlucky stars for one’s home and office. It changes yearly, monthly, daily and even hourly.

Other details about the Year of the Earth Dog include the importance of the number nine and that it is the powerful number this year as well as animal signs that are allies and friends, enemies and secret friends. In fact, this year is the Dragon’s conflict year. Though the Dragon will benefit from the luck of wealth this year, Allen shared some pointers like taking it easy, doing charity work, or getting yourself checked for health purposes.

On a personal note, she shared nine life lessons she’s learned through her journey in her life:

- Never give up despite any adversities that come your way.

- It’s okay to be sad as it gives you the balance to see and keep living.

- Give time to everything.

- Go with the flow.

- Live for today.

- It’s okay to have scratches after making mistakes because there’s no other way to go but up.

- Stop and smell the roses.

- Better to be useful than useless.

- Believe in feng shui.
