Lifestyle dining

AS one is comfortably seated for dinner under the stars, his view—as far as his eyes take him across the waters—should be just as soothing; his appetite, taste, in anticipation for some of Cebu’s most exquisite grilled meat masterpieces, too, should challenge dining boundaries.

Movenpick Hotel Mactan Island Cebu is a five-star Mediterranean-inspired beachfront hotel in Cebu. However, one of the hotel resort’s gems is its beach club that effectively blends the luxurious and light, a delicate balance which Ibiza Beach Club executes to perfection.

Primarily, Ibiza believes it presents the apex of lifestyle dining and unrivaled entertainment. For those who have been to some of Ibiza’s shows, the latter proves to be more than just mere song and dance. One can expect a full production with themes that change daily: Latin, Brazilian, Broadway, movie musical, pop and retro-themed dance numbers. During some nights, a live band plays upbeat favorites or a DJ mixes tracks ready to light up the dance floor.

As for the dining aspect, Ibiza is known for its Balearic-inspired, signature 15-course grill; simply, a meat lover’s dream come true. The meal is made up mostly of choice meats and seafood prepared in Balearic sauces and marinades with an Asian twist.

“What is lifestyle dining?” asked Movenpick owner Manny O. “We [Ibiza] take comfort food and take it to the next level and make it extraordinary.”

Manny O., a prime example of a hands-on boss, made sure that Ibiza’s Balearic-inspired, signature 15-course grill is a dining experience that most, if not everybody, can relate to.

As a diner is seated, a chef walks up to the table and carves him a few (or more) slices of freshly cooked meats from a long skewer and onto one’s plate. One by one, a diner can have his fill of filet mignon, angus rib-eye steak, baby back ribs, ostrich meat, New Zealand lamb, rock lobsters or salmon, tiger prawns, cuttlefish, chicken, crispy pork belly and beef short ribs, to name a few. The 15-course repertoire also includes a serving of salad, pao de quejo, side dish, and ends with its specialty dessert, the grilled queen piña.

“Some people don’t end up eating through the 15-course meal; some can eat slightly more, some slightly less. But one day, a customer will be back craving for our tiger prawns, or our New Zealand lamb, or the Angus rib-eye steak,” said Manny O., confident about how its “first class meats” are sure to impress.

If one chooses to skip the 15-course meal, Ibiza also offers an a la carte and tapas menu featuring house-prepared charcuterie, bruschettas, jamon serrano, gambas, imported cheeses, a selection of salads and starters, the eivissa paella, seafood marinara, premium steaks and the Manny O. signature wagyu burger. For dessert, cakes, pastries and a collection of Mövenpick ice cream from Switzerland round off the feast.

Through the meal, whether one chooses the 15-course feast or the a la carte treats, it’s best enjoyed with Ibiza’s selection of award-winning Manny O. Wines.

Ibiza Beach Club is a unique brand concept birthed in Cebu, Philippines. Ibiza looks to enamor the rest of the country by branching out, starting with its new soon-to-open property in the heart of Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City, Metro Manila. The 1,000-seater Ibiza Beach Club BGC is situated on the sixth level of the new W City Centre, a 29-storey office tower located along 7th Ave., right next to Bonifacio High Street.
