Lightning kills teen in Zamboanga City

A TEENAGER was killed while his father escaped unscathed in a lightning strike offshore Taluksangay village, Zamboanga City, the police reported Friday.

The police identified the fatality as Jakter Pailan, 15, a resident of Taluksangay village.

Pailan’s father, Janla, who was with him fishing on the waters off Taluksangay village, was unharmed when the lightning struck around 3 p.m. Wednesday.

Janla told the police that they were fishing amid the inclement weather condition when lightning struck killing his son.

Pailan was buried in accordance to Muslim rites.

Zamboanga City had been experiencing inclement weather condition since Sunday due to the intertropical convergence zone.
