THE 2015 Summer Wake Jam is set to gather local and international wakeboard and wake skate riders starting tomorrow until May 10 at the Cebu Wake Park, Papa Kits in Liloan, Cebu.
Helmut Estremos of Cebu Wake Park said that they are going to start setting up the competition field today. Estremos said that riders from Denmark and Russia are among the international riders gracing on this competition.
The annual competition of wake board and wake skate will feature four categories—the open wake board, beginners wake board, ladies open wake board and open wake skate.
“Right now we have 30 listed on the wake board competition and six on the wake skate. Registration is still open because some of the riders will register on the day of competition,” Estremos said.
The top bets in the open wake board are Lasse Bannedsen of Denmark, Cebu’s Efren Batocon, Ed Alter of Bohol and Paulo Rondein of Cebu Wake Park.
Estremos said that the previous champion Raphael Trinidad, a Sportswriters Association of Cebu (SAC) citation awardee, has not signed up yet because he is in Manila but he might register on the day of competition.
Cash prizes will be given to the winners. The top three in the open wakeboard will receive P10,000, P5,000 and P3,000m respectively, while the Ladies and Open wake skate winners will get P5,000 each.
